If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and SISTAR’s reliance on Hyorin and Soyu works so well that it is wise of SISTAR to give them the spotlight for ‘Give It to Me’. Combined, their 29 seconds are nice… but that’s all they should be given with Hyorin and Soyu working the mics. She has a nice voice with decent attitude but Bora fills the K-Pop rapper stereotype of “DAYUM SHE HAWT WE NEED HER ON STAGE NO MATTER HER VOCAL TALENT” to a tee. Bora gets the rap break (16 seconds) and it’s Bora. Dasom gets thirteen seconds (counted them) and she does a fine job. Hyorin (and Soyu) don’t hit notes so much as demolish them in sex. Her brassy and crackling vocals are always a highlight but they’re especially exhilarating on a fast musical beat like this that requires its singers to be able to hit actual notes. But you can’t hold Hyorin down for long and, like every successful SISTAR effort, ‘Give It to Me’ works best when it’s Hyorin and Three Hot Backup Dancers. Soyu gets a whole lot more space to rightly shine and the second fiddle of SISTAR more than holds her own against her better. Like most things SISTAR, the real star of the show is Hyorin. On October 3, it was revealed that Hyolyn is preparing for her solo album. Two days later, Starship released teasers of their comeback with their concept which was Moulin Rouge theme. The string touches that bounce above the keys are a great touch though and the clapping machine and light staccato beats make everything fly by at a lively pace. On June 3, Starship released a statement, saying that SISTAR will release their second full album Give It To Me on June 11. The chorus is nothing to write home about and the chants of ‘Give It to Me’ are nowhere near as catchy as they should have been. ‘Give It to Me’ is perfunctory but SISTAR has the talent to make every note shine.
